As I mentioned in a, it seems a lot more interesting to me to learn about these side characters that are rarely spoken of and mostly kept in mystery. This new glimpse into her early life is so welcoming and really sheds some light into the powerful woman she turned out to be, as well as her relationship with her son and his father. My only complaint is that this should be turned into a spin-off of some sort, because I'd really like to know more about this period before Jess and the gang. I suppose that would make things a lot easier when it comes to solving the Library's many mysteries, though, and thus will never happen. Still, a great and enjoyable read for fans. I read this prequel prior to reading any of the books in the series The Great Library, so I don't feel like I read any spoilers but I am not sure how each of the characters relates to the others. But I didn't feel like I was missing anything.Keira Morning appears to be the main female character along with Eskander who, I think, is the main male character.

At the beginning of the story, Keira had been 'promised' to Gregory, the Obscurist Magnus's son.

She, however, could not stand him and wanted nothing to do with him. Eskander is new to the 'community' and for whatever reason, the Obscurist Magnus told Keira that he'd make her the heir rather than his son if she'd work with Eskander to learn to like it there.I have a feeling that Eskander and Keria might get together. I believe he beat up Gregory for her honor so she'd not have to worry about him coming into her room and 'taking her' for himself. Kiera Morning is living in the tower as a young woman. She has been paired with Gregory but cannot stand him. Kiera is promised to become the next Obscurist if she can help Eskander, a new arrival, get comfortable and fit in with the other residents of the tower.Since this is a short story the reader cannot really get to know the characters.

Kiera is a little feisty and wants to be free. Eskander is a fighter at heart.

Gregory is only briefly mentioned but I still hate him. There wan't a whole Kiera Morning is living in the tower as a young woman. She has been paired with Gregory but cannot stand him. There wan't a whole lot to the plot, Eskander arrives after being free his whole childhood and Kiera is promised the new Obscurist leadership role.Overall it was a fun and quick read but not essential to the storyline. If you're a diehard fan then I would suggest this as it is a great addition to the series. If you're a dabbler it's up to you then. Tigers in the Cage gives a glimpse into the life of Keria Morning, Wolfe’s mother, growing up in the Iron Tower prior to becoming the Obscurist Magnus.

'Tigers in the Cage' is a prequel novella to 'The Great Library' series centering around Obscurist Magnus, Keria Morning, the mother of Scholar Christopher Wolfe.

It tells the story of Keria and Eskander, Wolfe's mysterious father, and how the two met.To be honest, I actually didn't mind this novella that much. In fact, I really enjoyed it! The writing was good, but it obviously needed editing. Some of the sentences were poorly written. Gregory was a character previously said to be 5 years older than Wolfe: Not Keria's age. The novella ended WAY to early for my liking!

I wanted to know if Keria and Eskander got together!Congratulations to Rachel Caine on publishing a lovely novella! I was so psyched for this novella because finally, FINALLY we we're going to get a completely different perspective to the characters we already know but turns out it's nothing that's actually interesting enough to matter. I mean because of the location, I thought it'll have more about the inner workings of the tower, more about the different factions of the librarians in a way and better yet a glimpse of the archivist but all I got was a story about how Wolfe's parents met. Honestly I couldn't care less about that so this was a huge bummer to read.Given that it's only 7 pages, I KNOW that it logically wouldn't have a lot to read about, about anything but at the very least I hoped for something that will actually be really relevant later.

Could our barbarian actually be that one relevant thing? Maybe, I honestly hope so to make this seem a little more worthwhile.

Speaking of which there is a huge plot hole of sorts concerning a character. In book 2 a character was said to be supposedly 5 years or so older than Wolfe but here he's as old as Wolfe's mother. Not sure if it's a plot hole but this is a blatant inconsistency UNLESS there is another character with the same name and the same circumstances in there which makes me really unsure.Final rating: 2/5.

We all agree that this movie has lots of awesome fight scenes, the story is good enough to justify the ass kickery.but what about the rest? I have only one complaint about this movie and i'm talking about Rosamund Kwan, i have nothing against her, but her character ruined the movie for me, always delivering some very lame (and annoying) humorous scenes (and i usually don't mind about the comical scenes in these movies), i seriously hoped that the villain (played by Robin Shou, yes, the guy who played Liu Kang in the Mortal Kombat movies) would have ripped her heart out. Enough with the complaints.anyway, as i said, the film has lots of awesome fights (including one of the best sword fights ever filmed, featuring Donnie Yen and John Salvitti) and there are also lots of cool stunts. Cynthia Khan has a small role in this movie (i know that there are some versions where she has an extra scene), it would have been a much better movie if they made her play the Rosamund Kwan role, Donnie and Cynthia would kick some ass together (maybe, it would have been better than 'In the line of duty IV').
