Covenant Supercarrier
But this isn't the UNSC Infinity vs Forerunner ship the size of a small moon. This is the UNSC infinity vs a 30km ship. Now that hole might have been less then 50 to 30 meters across and about a kilometer long. Now put that 'dent' into the super carrier and tell me that the damage is insignificant.

I think team Halo takes it. UNSC Infinity has near-Super MAC caliber main guns, and it has four of them.
It also carries 30 MT yield nukes. The Supercarrier brings to the table 7 energy projectors which are powerful enough to glass a planet in a few hours, and slice through unshielded UNSC ships like a knife through warm butter. Both ships are capable of deploying about 10 other (relatively) small ships each, with energy shielding, smaller MAC cannons, and plasma torpedoes.A shot from a Reaper's red energy beam thing has a yield of about 400kt.
The Supercarrier's shields are capable of tanking many shots from 60kt ship MACs without failing, requiring nukes or Super MACs to destroy them. Infinity's shields have got to be in that range as well, seeing as it was designed to engage and defeat that kind of ship. Besides its shields, the Infinity has about 15 feet of titanium armor, more at the fore and aft.It takes dozens of shots from Dreadnoughts to bring down a Reaper, but those have a yield of 38kt.
By my reckoning (which I can explain if anyone is curious) the Infinity's main guns have an absolute minimum yield of 600kt each, or 2.4MT per volley. That should take out the Reapers in relatively short order.

And again, you've got those 30 MT yield nukes, which can be fired as missiles, carried by fighters, or laid as mines. The Halo ships also seem to be more maneuverable in combat. Halo ships tend to fly around at speeds of many kilometers per second during space combat to gain tactical advantage.
From what we have seen in the games, Reapers mainly seem to float in space and exchanging volleys of fire with the fleets engaging them. However, it is possible they would change tactics if they were facing just two opponents on their own level rather than fleets of relatively puny ships. So in summary, Halo takes it due to superior weaponry, energy shields that unlike a ME dreadnought can actually stand up to a shot from the Reapers, and the ability to deploy fleets. Also, OP, if this fight takes place over Halo Earth, Reapers get vaporized by Orbital Defense Super MACs before any of the combatants can fire a shot. ME Earth should look into something like that.
I think it's worth comparing Halo and ME tech. Halo shields go down in one or two MAC rounds, and I feel certain that guns using eezo end up being at least as (if you go full-wank for Halo) if not more effective, when compared to standard railguns. Halo definitely has a mobility edge in FTL, but ME has one in realspace.Edit: after consulting the wiki, standard ship armament for ME world has very near the velocity of an orbital defense MAC, which is about 400x a ship MAC - MAC rounds are substantially larger, but rough parity in ship v ship striking power is safe to say. Reapers tank those rounds no problem, as seen by Sovereign being completely uneffected by fleets of ME craft. Also, ME ships are pretty bad at defending from projected energy weapons, which the Covenant Supership has 7 of, each capable of slicing UNSC ships in halfOnly the Collectors in Mass Effect employ beam weapons.

I don't remember anything in the Codex about them being especially more capable of wrecking shields than anything else. In gameplay the Prothean beam rifle seems to be good against shields, but so are all the machine guns if you can control the recoil well enough to hit the target. The only limits we know of with ME kinetic barriers are that they can't protect against radiation or extremes of temperature.
Ionized gases would probably be repulsed. I can't imagine practical space travel being possible if your shields couldn't do that.
Well the Collector ship did slice the Normandy up pretty fast, and the SR2 (with upgraded shields and armor) still takes some serious damage from beam attacks (when you have to fight the Oculus inside the cargo bay)ME shields are kinetic barriers, and as such are designed to absorb kinetic energy. So how effective the Covenant weapons are against the shields on a reaper really depend on if they are light based (laser) or plasma based. Kinetic barriers will stop plasma, as is has mass. The Infinity's MAC guns ain't doing shit though, those are pure kinetic energy.
